How can I force the Edge_Loop_Cut/Slide# (nmb) streamline tool to deactivate when I release the hotkey that is assigned to it?
In the past this was enough to cancel loop insertion. In recent versions, a new loop gets inserted into geometry after the hotkey is released.

I think it has been like that all the time.

Hi, IStonia.
When I have some time, I'll record a video from one of the earlier version in which it was possible.

Okay, here's the video. It's from 2015-Jan-04 version. It's the first version I tried, so it's highly possible that this feature still worked in later NVil versions.

As you can see NVil aborted the tool when the tool's hotkey was released. To place the loop I had to use any of the actions bound to my LMB, MMB or RMB mouse buttons. This was safe because it reduced the possibility of accidentally placing a loop down to almost zero. Now I find myself dropping unwanted loops all over the model. Sometimes straight on top of the existing ones, so they're not immediately visible.

You didn't have NMB tool in your video.

But I notice that you have set this streamline tool option on in the config you sent me, Activate NMB action on activated. That could be the reason.

I already tried it. I'm currently using the exact same settings like those from the video, and there's no edge loop preview showing up when I hover the cursor over an edge.
I can still use LMB/MMB/RMB to place edges with corresponding basic streamline tools though, so it's not all that bad. However having a preview helped a lot.
