Hay IStonia, may I expect it will be fixed? I have a lot of work with hard surface and this Boolean bug do not correlate with my deadline. Pleas fix it!

Don't expect I can fix it soon. Boolean algorithm is hard and tricky and there will be no solution for some cases. You can modify or tweak you model a little bit to make it work. Avoid faces of the two mesh overlap each other which will not produce cut lines. The program needs cut lines to work. Also if the result can produce complex geometry, for example holes inside a polygon, try to add more detail to the polygon. Your need to do some cleanup afterwards.

Unfortunately Boolean command is absolutely useless... It works in one case out of ten, and it is not an exaggeration. I just spent a lot of time trying to make it work, absolutely no way. Just spend months to tune NVil and create interface etc, etc... But when I have to make work I have to go to another app... It's a thousand pities!

Hi Andrei

You might try adding blender to your modelling toolkit.

There is a plugin called bool tools https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iw7XH-mOfc8 which is very cool. It reminds me a lot of MoI in the way that it works.

Hi kevjon,
I've already went to MoI for this Boolean stuff.
This tool for blender looks like that stuff for Modo?

I don't think it is as sophisticated as Mesh Fusion for Modo but its free and looks like an excellent tool and you certainly can't beat the price.

Modo and Mesh Fusion would set you back 2k

Andrei,  have you tried booleans with slightly more topology?

I used to model in Maya, which also suffered these problems before it was updated.

There is some serious code involved.

I think Maya now uses 3rd party Carve(CSG) libary (as many other 3d polygon applications now use).

Made quick edit of model, boolean now OK.(model with cylinder boolean)

Edited model attached.
