Wavefront format supports
Quote
rational or non-rational forms of curve or surface type:
basis matrix, Bezier, B-spline, Cardinal, Taylor (cstype)

My +1 to Darcvizer's request.

The .obj format supports various curves, but which applications support the curve data and imports/exports that data correctly?

Good question.
For Maya and for Houdini one can write a script to import the curves correctly.
Dunno about other programs.

i would love a curves export!!

I would like to somehow get splines into Nurbs apps for some nurb modeling.

Typically, i have never seen .obj supporting splines.   Perhaps FBX?  -a more universal file format.

Others are IGES,  STL, 3dm (open nurbs).

another +1

The ability to import curves originating in Rhino/MoI would be excellent.

MoI can export 3D curves as Splines in DXF format.
