I alwas notice that the best fit command do not work good when I try to best fit objects.
I attached screen where I run best fit, look how small is selected detail and how appart it is. Why it is so? I have to zoom in everytime after I run best fit. I made something wrong?

Where is your object Pivot located?

Best fit for objects always calculates the fit based on object size around the objects pivot, regardless of where the pivot is located. It also does not take into account wide screen display.

It is annoying. I zoom to fit based on sub_object selection.

In object mode:-

Polygon mode (all polygons selected)

I use Composite tool for object best fit.

But it has big dissadvantage, it works only for object mode... But if I want to best fit edge or points I have to use onother tool... Not good.

fixed.
So I know there's been a change in code, but I can't see a difference in behavior [Edit: is a bug in Object Pivot StreamlineTool?]. BestFit in object mode still takes the object pivot into account when setting the new view. I just cross checked with Maya and Maya doesn't care where the pivot is located. It fits the view around the object's geometry.

I tested again with the default setup and it works. But with my config it doesn't... *sigh*
One more thing: When a single object is selected it nicely fills almost the whole view with it, but when multiple objects are seleted it is farther away from them. For my taste it could zoom in some more so they, too, fill the view.

Yes, I agree with you, it would be good to have them more close to not zoom in every time.
So lets ask to IStonia to fix it :)

I found a bug which is causing what I've been experiencing. If I use the Pivot Tool (Visual Tool) the Best Fit works fine, but if I use the Object Pivot Streamline Tool, the Best Fit is working as before. Can someone check, if you got the same bug?

I have different tools for best fit, but they all have the same hotkey.

I think you will find the problem comes from if the "Object Pivot" and "Mesh Pivot" are not in same location.
If you use the visual tools pivot tool, but move only object pivot(not the default "Mesh pivots as well"), then same problem.

Nothing like an over complicated system, of having object and mesh pivots, then the application does not know how to deal with them for viewport fit.

--------------------
I was just checking (as I have not used the object "best fit" for a while). It still has the problem when object pivot and mesh pivot have been separated. Even after moving object/mesh pivot back together, the object best fit does not work as it should.

--------------------

Forgot to mention, if you have 2 (or more) separate mesh selected, the "Best fit" only best fits the first mesh selected.
