I read your link... that appears to be substantially the same as just "freezing" a mesh in NVil, which you can do right now. Just right-click on your object name in the object list and select Freeze/Unfreeze. Hope that's what you're looking for.

Static mesh allows you to add to the scene very very hard mesh
