Can somebody please explain how you get the buttons made by Tiles into the UI

Not sure about your intention.

If you want to create your own toolbars then use the images, check this thread.

If you want to use the toolbars made already by Tiles, copy his setting file and paste to replace this one
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\DigitalFossils\NVil\User Settings\UserButtonToolSettings.xml
