Is there a rest or place on ground command for objects?

In the case of a Box object, I have been able to work around this by by:
- Go into face mode choosing the bottom face
- Set the pivot position
- Return to object mode
- Zero absolute on Y
- Set pivot position back to object

I might be able to make this work with a streamline tool, though I think this could be useful for nearly all other users.

I realize for a box I can construct it in perspective and have it start from the 'ground plane' but sometimes I might be just messing about with a shape and later want to set it down on the ground-plane.

Many thanks.

You can use the "Differential Snap" tool.

I'm a bit unsure how this tool is supposed to work.
I tried messing about with it but it wasn't snapping the shape down to the ground plane/grid lines.

Thank you,
That makes sense now.

Although I do wonder if a specific command could possibly added in the future that allows the following:
- Pick object (in object mode)
- Run command (Place on ground/Rest on ground)

The object would then be sent so it's base was resting on the grid height of 0 (ground plane).

Many thanks.
