Tnx for the explanations.

Yes I have watched the video several times and now that song wont leave my head lol.
Honestly I do not understand.
If I set the image in the 3d view it just show the image and is unaffected by rotating the 3d view.
In Moi3d you set the images in the other views and it shows in the 3d view.

I guess Nvil works different here?

Tnx!

In Moi3d you set the images in the other views and it shows in the 3d view.
It is a long time since I used Moi, but I believe Moi did not use back_ground image, it used image planes.
In Nvil, use the plane tool with option "create with image"

Hello some modeling questions
In Moi3d I can boolean cut with a line...it will cut thru a solid so I can separate them.
In Nvil as far as I know I can boolean with a shape and it will leave the closed shape closed.
Is there a way in Nvil to cut with a line or curve thru so I can have items separated? boolc.jpg

also how would you boolean the shape out as the attached pic? bhmoon.jpg

the forum behaves weird sometimes it opens good grey colored but now it is white (with Firefox or Ie)

Also is there in the manual that explains all the symmetry weld , no weld options? with pics?

Tnx!

Can you specify what tool you were using for this?

Yes I have seen the video ...but my question is what are the possibilities to cut with a curve, straight line etc? not with other shapes.
I use it all the time in Moi and now in plasticity.

So I was wondering if in Nvil it can be done too?

On the weld negative etc I was asking if there are some explanations in the manual.

I had to combine all pics since the it wont let me upload more than one pic even though they are very small.

Tnx!

At 1.02, change the operation to "Boolean cut > Chop".

There is no explanations for symmetry weld/no-weld in the manual.
When performing a symmetry cut operation on a mesh, the mesh will be cut into 2 parts by symmetry plane. One part is discarded and replaced by a new part which is the mirror of the other part and the two parts are separated. If weld option is used, a weld operation will perform along the center line where the two parts touch each other to make the two parts connected to each other.

It took me while but I got it working.
Again stuck at modeling task...

I want to practice model e ornament.
In Vectric aspire you select the curves select the shapes and it will create part of the ornament and so on.
at 10sec https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6u9MTA1Z5k&list=PLP_5O0csPn7RQtdKPFju5-bDZKD-qKe6w

I looked at e few Nvil tutorials and at the chamfer with shape tutorial it is kinda in the direction https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsAtVq9OlUE

I found a blender tutorial that does it but different but it will also work in the end at 4min https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2KUxDOPcUc
at 6min you can change the shape with a custom curve ...is there something like this in Nvil?

How would one accomplish modeling something like this in Nvil?

Tnx!

You can use the "Spline Rig" tool
