Same goes for Ring Edges or similar tools
Why change command names that have been there possibly for 2 years?
Why fix something broken or improve a tool at all? It has been around since years
Why change it? Because it makes more sense in my eyes.
It`s called select edge loop in lots of other apps because that is what the tool does. When i search for a tool to select an edge loop then i can be sure that i find a corresponding tool that has edge loop in the name. Blender, trueSpace, UU3d, Max, Silo, and so on, all the 3D apps i know talks about edge loop. Loop Edge sounds strange and misleading, and looks like the words are twisted.
But the tool is not broken and re-naming does not improve the tool.
So for anyone who as been using the program for the last few years will just have to get used to the new names because you think the name should be changed!
There as been a thread on polycount for 2 years concerning this program, I have looked through most of it, and have not found (yet) anyone complaining about the naming of tools. So maybe it is just you?
Yeah, maybe. But maybe all others simply don`t bother and move to something else?
You don`t want to get the point it seems.
In every other 3D app select edge loop tool is simply called select edge loop.
This recalls me a story where a couple fought over the naming of their child and the grandmother fixed it with a different name.
I thought the "Point" of a thread in a "Discussion" forum was for a discussion. Or should those having the discussion all agree on what you put forward?
So now you are not stating it would be "Better"[to rename the tools], but should be done to conform to other applications.
Well, the best solution is to let people able to rename the tool names. Currrently, you can rename tools via radial menu customization. english, french, german, latin or what ever.
