************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I followed your steps but it didn't crash on me. But I had to restore graphic devices, View > Refresh, otherwise viewport empty.

I just added some codes to handle this situation. It does not fixe the bug, but just informs you some error happened. So you can save your scene, close and reopen NVil.

I would like to add that i just received this error after coming back to my pc and unlocking it. Windows 10. Program was still open and let me save the file. But the viewport didnt work, and a "refresh" poped up another error.

It always works fine on me. May be something related to graphic card.

Try this. If the error occurs, you will receive different error messages.
