loop select menu command interferes w/soft selection

I have found an issue with using loop select command with soft selection turned on. When I invoke loop select the soft selection is ignored even though it is marked as still active. If I change a value within soft select menu the settings are no longer ignored. This does not happen when using the double LMB click to loop select, only happens with loop select command through interface or mapped to hotkey.

This is also true for coversions of selections, either through "switch to ... mode" oder commands like "edges by/in selected vertices".
