There have been a couple of posts concerning the manipulator position, so thought about time I made this post, as IMHO, the current "Manual" position of the manipulator does not work as I believe it should.

When you have the "Manipulator" position set to "Manual"(although in the "Manipulator window", that is for some reason classed as "Pivot Position"). You can "Set" the manipulator position. The problem is that although after disabling the "Set" the position of the manipulator will move with selection. IMHO, the manipulator should stay in set position.(similar as to when manipulator is set to world and remains there). I also note that if you change the manipulator to another position option(such as "Object"), again the manual manipulator position is moved/re-set, when I believe to be correct, the manual position should be stored and kept until specifically set by the user (so if manipulator set to a manual position, then option changed to "Object", when you change option back to "manual, it should go to stored manual position.)

As it is currently, there is no logic(well, not to me), as the "manual" position can keep changing position without the user specifically setting that position, it can change simply due to moving selection.

Any thoughts from others on this are certainly welcomed.

Go to Edit->Options->Manipulator goes with Selection in Manual Mode and turn it off. The manipulator will now stay in place, when you move the selection. But snapping will not work anymore, just like when using world position.

That does get around one problem, but not the others, such as the "Manual" position being set/reset if, for example, a change in position option, or setting object pivot.
To me, it is as if pivot position/orientation was never really thought out, just the various options added at various times, with no consideration on what happens when changing the [manipulator position/orientation] options.

A new option is added.
