Hello,

I noted a difference in how the cut tool work when an object is subdivided.

When subdivision is toggled off the cut tool will cut through multiple edges along a path as expected. When subdivision is toggled on it will not cut through multiple edges. I have to manually click on the edge to cut then go to the next edge and cut as well. I know I can just switch back in forth but I wasn't sure if this was a bug or not.  Is there a way to have the cut tool cut through multiple edges?

Thank you

You can't do that in subdivided object. It is a technical issue.

This is probably something that should be mentioned in the help file. I couldn't find any hint that this will not work for SubdivisionSurfaces. But then again, I couldn't find any explicit hint, that it's possible to cut through multiple edges in the help either, it just states "Move the mouse to a vertex or edge or a polygon" (not explicitly saying "to ANY vertex, edge, face"), and for the alternative method it says "The operation will cut through each edge at its middle position along the path." So you may only implicitly infer how the tool works from just reading the documentation.
The docs need work anyway. I just wanted to say, it should be described in more detail.

Hi Vaquero,

With your object selected, go into any of the sub_object selection modes (vertex/edge or polygon) and press the "C" key. The popup Instant help will show you some info that will help.

Thanks, Steve, but I already know how the cut tool works. I was referring to the documentation, where there is no info about the cut tool not working the same in higher subdivision levels. All I was saying is that it should be mentioned somewhere and the process should be described in slightly more detail. The quick info would not be the right place to make such statements as to whether this will work when subdivided, or should it be?
Such a question, that jcue posted give away good clues on what should be in the documentation. There shouldn't be any surprises after reading it.
