Connect tool doesn't show up in SubD mode

Just testing things out again and I notice when I took a cube and switched it to SubD mode, the connect tool no longer shows where your cuts are going to happen like it does when you're not in SubD mode.

Also, just a suggestion - Connect makes no sense at all to me for what it does.  To me, that's Slice, not Connect.

Connect would make more sense if I had selected 2 points and wanted to draw an edge between them - I'm connecting them.
