Hi IStonia,

Small problem.

When customizing the "User Tools" toolbars, on entering the "Tool List"(to choose a command) the icons within that tool list have changed(see next pic). Not really a problem, but thought would mention.

Another problem is with the "User Tools" toolbars during using NVIL, at times when changing from "Object" to "Sub_object" selection, the toolbars command names disappear. I then have to move the mouse cursor over the tools to be able to see the commands. It is unpredictable, so cannot at this time give the steps to repeat, it just happens.

My view goes from this:-

To this:-

-Steve

The tool list is simplified for faster loading.

The second problem never happen to me. Can and how you make the text reappear after that?

I mentioned above, I move the mouse cursor over the icons and the letters show.

It appears to be a problem after a command + then changing sub_object selection. But it is unpredictable.

Don't know what may cause that.

Btw, I have added some more snapping tools. I see you have some snapping buttons on the top. I think you can use lmb for single, rmb for toggle, mmb for toggle all. So you can do 3 different things from one button.

Hi IStonia,

Don't know what may cause that.
I did delete all preferences, created a user toolbar with some tools, and the problem did show again.

We can wait to see if anyone else see`s the same problem.

Thank you very much. I have set MMB for snap toggle on the user snap tools.

Hi IStonia,

Due to no-one else reporting this problem, I had a look to see if it was my graphics card drivers at fault, but even a clean install of various drivers (nVidia), the problem persists.

Un-docking the user tools bars did stop the problem, but having them floating is not an option for me.

I decided to have another look at my settings for the user toolbars. I decided to change back the various groups visibility to "All modes", however, that setting did not keep between sessions. When re-starting NVIL, the group visibility setting had gone back to what they where (I have different groups to different visibility). That made me think that the settings are corrupted.
The only way I can check that is by deleting the user toolbar settings and starting again, which is rather irritating. I may just forget about the user toolbars :(

There is a bug in group visible setting, a setting change flag is not set so no save in shutdown. To get around it, after setting the group, change a button's text then change it back to let the app know some thing has been changed.

Does the problem happen only after you chagne object modes?

Hi IStonia,

Does the problem happen only after you chagne object modes?

The problem appears when changing to or between sub_object selection modes.

I did delete all my preference and created a new user toolbar just with 11 buttons(for snapping options), that showed the same problem when it was docked at the top of the main viewport.

When I dock one of the user toolbars below the "Visual tools", then it[the user toolbar docked below the visual tools) is OK. Or, as I mentioned earlier, if they are not docked, then all OK.

A few more attempts :)

I un-docked the "Visual tools", that appeared to fix the problem. Docking the "visual tools" on it`s own, that fixes the problem. If I dock another toolbar to the top or bottom of the "Visual tools", the problem returns.

So I am OK for now, as I can leave the "Visual Tools" docked on its own.

I will add a line of code to refresh the button drawing just after the mode changed and see if it can fix. It seems to be a rendering issue.

Hi IStonia,

If you cannot reproduce the problem, then it may be best to leave it as it is. If it is only a problem on my setup, then my current work-around is OK for me.

I did notice on the Polycount[dot]com forum, you mentioned last year about possibly updating the display from MDX to SLimDX. Is that something you will still be doing?

-Steve

See if it's better now.

SlimDX is only in mind at the moment.

You need to give me a detailed info about how and when it happened.

Hi IStonia,

Do not concern about it.
I have a setup now without the issue(as mentioned above). If anyone else reports the problem, then I will e-mail you my config files and a vid showing repeatable steps that shows the issue(on my setup)

-Steve
