I have not yet found the right settings for importing any 2d DXF files
Is there a tutorial or somewhere to find the right settings.
Do other formats import 2d into NVIL?
any help would be aprciated

You can set the dxf import/export options here, Edit > Options > File Format Options > dxf.
There is no other formats dealing with 2d.
If you have any problem, send me a sample dxf file.

Thanks for the quick response,
I didn't phrase my question well, I am using MoI and wanted to export dxf or any other format that might work for 2D but between the options of both programs export from MoI and import to Nvil I have found none that worked so far and can't even remember what I tried or didn't try. So I was hoping there might be a proven work flow laid out somewhere
I am not trying to export anything complex just simple shapes to create mesh surfaces and objects.
so 2D DXF from MoI
A - 2d projection or 3d Curves
B - projection - I suppose this is just a preference
C - Splines, Cubic Splines or Polylines
In to NVIL - what options would you sugest
Thanks so much for your help
I think you have a wonderful product and I hope you stay the course with your focus on Mesh and Subdivision

You may be the only on who wants to try this workflow.
For import, just sent me a dxf file for testing.
For export, you can create some splines and export them to dxf.

Yes thank you,
Will this be a fix in the future updates?
I will rethink this work flow, I am not used to your spline tool yet and I enjoy the 2d work in my process.
I wanted to ask you a question about customizing, is it possible to make a pull down type of toolbar like the default Snap toolbar?
I really appreciate your responsiveness.

The fix will be in the next update.
It is not possible to create a pull-down type tool bar in customizing UI.

Can you send me another sample file? Just an arc(not a full circle) and an ellipse. So I can implement to handle these two kind of shapes.

Try this

It should be able to import arcs and ellipses.
