Hi there,

I am looking for a way to do an operation, like moving something a certian value along a specified axis. Like "move along X-axis for 5,75 units".

Could this only be done by

1st Select element, the should be moved
2nd Type in the value in the propper Field in "Manipulation" window

Or is there a more dynamic way to do this?

Kind regards

Hello Onkelpoe,

There is the "Move" streamline tool (with a selection made, press/hold down "W") with RMB you can "Axis_move" (the axis moved in, is defined by mouse movement direction). To get specific distance, I use the "Fixed stepping"(to enable fixed stepping:- Edit > options > Fixed Pixel Stepping Move Control". With that enabled, movement is made to step in the distance defined in the "Steppings > Move Increment"(found in the "Manipulator Window"). I normally have the stepping value set low, for example 0.05. With stepping movement, I just watch the "Transform value display" that is set to be placed next to the mouse cursor. (the "Transform Value display" can be set to either a fixed position, or a floating position (floating position follows cursor movement) The options are "View > Display > Transform Value Display Options")
It can take a bit of getting used to, but I find it works OK.
