Can any one test this build? Please let me know how high polygon count you can import into Nvil from .obj file.

http://www.digitalfossils.com/Download/NVil-Aug-25-19.rar

  * .obj object importing is improved to reduce temporary ram consuming significantly in importing process. This is good for bringing in very high poly count objects.
  * Draw Mesh > Mesh_Tweak: Dot object can be snapped to symmetry plane by dragging the dot towards it.

Test this one.

-Previous version crashes on instance objects.
-Better view port performance for edges rendering.

Tried latest version with 1.2gb .obj file, works good!

In previous version RAM would get filled up to 28gb and even error would pop up in the process, but with latest version it doesn't exceed 16gb and import finishes nicely.

I would like to mention that RAM size is quiet huge compared to Max/Maya/XSi tho. 16 gb in Nvil while others keep it under 2gb. Blender is 5gb.

How many faces of that object?

Try importing that 1.2gb file multiple times and see how many of that object you can add to the scene.

Can you show me the detail of the error message?

What is your pc ram size?

In previous version RAM would get filled up to 28gb and even error would pop up in the process,

It can be helpful information if you can show me the error messages pop up in previous version.

I have 32 gb of ram. This time model imported the 2nd time.

1st import 16gb
2nd import 26gb
3rd import RAM grows to 28gb drops to 22gb but after this PC froze, no error

If it helps the error literally said Hard Error without a stack. I will try a couple more times.

Previous version I got this error:

Had to restart PC again, after that I updated Nvil to the latest version and got the following error

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Can you send me your setting files so I can fix the bug you come across when updating to new version?

Ah, it doesn't happen every time. Only after that crash. Maybe bad coincidence? Posted it anyway just in case if it is related.

I have backup of previous settings so it is all good!

It seems I can't do any more thing about this issue for now.
