When you have time (and if this feature doesn't already exist), could you please implement something like
vx_boundary_edge_and_corner
from OpenSubdiv specs into CC subdivision algorithm used by NVil? As an option of course.
Currently subdivision in NVil works like
vtx_boundary_edge_only
.

* Vertex mode > Geometry > Set Subd Hard Corner. Mark/Unmark selected vertices as hard corner in subdivision operation. The vertex must be a border vertex and connecting to only two edges.
