grid numbers

So I'm often aiming for precision. Therefor it would be convenient to have an overview of the dimensions I'm working in. Would it be possible to have an option under preferences that allows numbers/units to be shown either at the 2 main axis or at the margin of the grid? I guess numbers would only be neeed at the intervals ("Floor Color 2" lines).
For the side views the margin would be the margin of the view.
