But is it possible to make it work this way? (Collapse all that points)
And the best way would be if it will work this way, Weld all points to the nearest one in the edge.
Now all that operarions you have to make by hands.

I Prefer it works like last image because this is probably how I would manually adjust it.

+1 I also prefer the result in the last image... it is the only one which doesn't leave any nGons (except possibly on the bottom face, unless the two "star" verts on either side of the filleted edge are connected), so I don't have to search for them and clean them up prior to exporting out to zBrush.

The first method is very nice in some situations because it does not create a pole and keeps an all quad mesh.
It of course can also be a hindrance depending on the situation.
perhaps when tapping the spacebar while the tool is active can cycle through the options.
