It may just be me, excuse me if I'm not up to all these new fancy controls IStonia has put into effect, but for some reason I don't seem to be able to grab a simple vertex anymore after using the polygon tool to create a new poly while fleshing a character out ala' my tutorials, but I can't grab a vertex either while selecting it, and also while using tweaking control key selection, and while trying to use the arrow adjustments that popup on the selected vertex, I can NOT simply move it directly up or down, without it going left or right also screwing up the whole poly?????

What is going on here?

I mean tweaking should mean I can move a vert in any direction as I wish right?

Can you make a video to show the problem? I don't understand what it is just from your words.

Hello StOrM3,

The Tweak tool works fine to me. I use the hotkey "T + LMB" to tweak the mesh. I can grab and move a vertex, edge, or face on any direction. I am using the default settings by the way. I am curious on why it is not working for you.

storm, sounds like you haven't used NVil for quite a while. I think the Retopo tool is what you are after. It was under polygon mode before. Now you can open it either through 'Geometry > Create > Retopo' or under edge mode. It can be opened in vertex/edge/polygon modes. Quite a few new features have been added to this tool and you can check it out in the help file, Help > Modeling > Edge Section > Retopo.

So,

It would appear, that everything is running fine now, so either it was something left over from my silo config I made, and tried to wedge into the newer version of NViL only to find out alot has changed ;'(  or it was one of the config changes, or me resetting the key shortcuts back to Silo, I made several changes, turning various snapping options off, among other things, and reset key config to Silo-esque, which given your new changes, and beefier toolset, it would appear it might not even be needed now, whatever the case, I have it working perfectly now, and love you soooo Much IStonia!  So, much that when time permits, after getting a few more graphics done for my game almost done, I have just a few sprites left on the list of todo's, should be able to nail them down by the end of the weekend, which will free me up sometime, to help re-add some of the missing silo keys config, also possibly do a new tutorial or two, since I now have a shiny new Wacom 18SX well new to me, and in super duper condition, and I can now spin the screen around as I work drawing / modeling etc..  Which makes for a super quick workflow, I need to make sure Camtasia is back setup properly...  Either way, I now have my P-Active 19" tablet monitor for my teenage son to draw graphics on, whilst I draw / model etc.. on my Wacom which is far more compatible with almost every app I now use.  But point is, I can get work done at least 3 times as fast with NO battery in the pen, and a lighter touch given the pen, and the fact that my son can also draw art rather quickly himself...

Anyways expect to see alot more of me here on the forums and to be uploading new tuts on my webpage as well as youtube account, to help some new people get down to the brass tacks on character modeling using the new and improved NViL, I really want everyone to know about NViL, that is why I have tried to mention it on the Project Anarchy forums as much as possible, and talked with several Havok team members about it combined with 3D-Coat via applinks!  I'm always pulling for you IStonia!  Because of all of your work we have a super awesome modeling app, and I won't forget that, so I try to shout it from the mountains as much as possible...  Sorry I have been away, but I will be here alot more now, especially since I need to learn as much as I can about all the new tools available to us, and settings too, to help improve tutorials and ease new users into the deep end!

Ciao' 4 now,

StOrM3
