Hi

First let me tell you that i just discover Nvil and i must say that is AMAZING ;), nice tools and very intuitive to use. So far is the best i have found in the last couple of years.

I`m testing some of the tools now, can someone please help me with this questions.

1-I want to have the loop cut option as an sticky key in retopo mode.., how can i set that up?

2-Speakin of retopo mode, is there a way to have the tweak/relax brush in retopo mode also as an sticky key?

3-And regarding the tweak mode with the relax brush, is there a way to make the vertices snap to a surface for retopology while using it?..., now when i use it the vertices do not snap to the underlaying surface even if the snap function is on.

I`m using the demo from abril 13 of this year.

Many thanks and again amazing app ;)
Cheers

Hi yolao, thanks for using NVil!

Did you use the visual Loop-Cut tool and Brush tools. You can use the streamline tools instead.

There is a default streamline loop cut tool already. Default key: S.
There are corresponding basic streamline tools for brush tweak operations.

If you don't know how to setup streamline tools. See Help > Tutorial > Set Up A StreamLine Tool.

Retopo mode now works in the brush tools in the new update.

thanks for the answer.

Yes. I have use the stream line tools. What i mean is that i want to have the Loop Cut and the tweak/relax brush not just when i have check the retopo mode enable box in the retopo reference list in the scene explorer.

but also when i have enable the retopo option on the visual tools/edge section, so i can loop cut or tweak/relax while i making new polygons with shift drag an edge or a vertice, etc.

thanks ;)

I'm not quite happy with how retopo mode handles hotkeys, because they're hardcoded. Unfortunately I have assigned my cut operations to x, shift+x and so on, but in retopo mode x already has a function. But if I call the loop cut streamline tool via radial menu, then it gets activated and I can use it. But I have to exit the tool with ESC to get back to retopo mode.

I have no problem using the brush tweak streamline tools in retopo mode. I hold down my hotkey to which I bound it and can paint-tweak, and if I let go I get back to retopo tool.

While in "Edge-> Retopo" you can use "C"(cut), although it is limited.
There is also a problem with using that function (cut) while in edge->retopo, as unless you have the visual tools window open, cancelling the use of cut(RMB) will close the retopo options popup.

Hopefully the new 'Visual Tool Suspended' Option can do the trick.

thanks ;)
but is there a way to activate the Toggle Visual Tool Suspended option with out a hotkey and just automatically?... so if i have the retopo option in the visual tools and i want to use the loop cut i dont have to first call the function Toggle Visual Tool Suspended through a hotkey use the loop cut.., tweak brush, etc, and then toggle of the visual tools with the same hotkey again..

If you want an automatic switch, you need to have some sort of clue or signal. I can't think of any better idea.

Another possible solution is you can set up a streamline tool to use the loop-cut tool. Assign the streamline tool to a key that won't conflict with the Retopo tool's fixed hotkeys A/S/D/X/C/Alt/Ctrl/Shift etc. Make sure its 'Can be activated when visual tool is on' option is checked.

The new streamline tool option, "Can be activated only when Retopo tool is on', could be a better solution?
