I have come across a few bugs with materials, but since I haven't found out, when each of them occurs, I will just start with what I know.

The material name dropdown menu still contains the materials of the previous opened file after 'New Scene'. When creating a new object or material, it is replaced.

If there is an instance in the scene and I choose "select polygons" from the material editor, I get an error message. The same happens if I try to delete a material, while an instance is present in the scene.

If I set a material to be the "default fixed material" and create an object, which I then undo, then the material gets deleted (and objects that used that material become white).

A "Delete Unused Materials" function would be nice.

There's nothing about the material editor in the help file at all.

I have to set the default fixed material for each scene seperately in order to avoid a new material being created with every new object?

Fixed.

You don't have to any more. The first scene material will be used if the fixed default material is not set.
