Title: Slow Backface culling
Post by: Boonta on September 01, 2020, 06:30:31 pm
backface culling is very slow when enabled.

Turning this on while retopologizing gives a nice visual appearance to the edges of your low poly. Disabling it, shows a shaded back face around your mesh's silhouette which is a bit distracting.

Turning back face culling on with a 1080 ti massively reduces the frame rate of spinning and interacting with camera.

I wonder if I can enable it per object?  Maybe the slowdown is due to it being enabled on all objects in the scene one being a high poly decimated mesh? If I could only enable it on my low poly retop mesh maybe that would give me a similar visual appearance to topogun?

Which version are you using? In the new version, culling is not working on objects which are added into retopo reference list.
