Hm, nope. This tool has its own mind. So how do i connect two vertices with an edge?

There are two ways I can think of.

*Select the two vertices. Geometry > Common Commands n Tools > Context Cut.
*Open the cut tool, (visual cut tool in edge/polygon mode, streamline cut tool default hotkey: C) click one vertex then move over and click the second vertex.

Or select the 2 vertex and then press "C"
