Hi there,
I installed the slim dx 4, and tried to run nvil,
i tried it normally, then changed permissions, set to admin,
I tried everything but it will not start.
I am on a fangbook 3 laptop
16 gig ram
I7 quadcore
nvideo 850m
Windows 8.1
is anyoneelse having this problem? or know of a fix?

Do you have .net framework 2.0, 4.0 and 4.5 installed?

I think i have 2.0 and 4.0, i followed the links on the download when new updates came out. the last one was in may before i downloaded this one. was i supposed to uninstall 2.0 and 4.0 and install 4.5 or have all 3 going?

You only need to install 4.5. No need to uninstall the other versions.

I get a message that 4.5 net is already a part of the operating system.. also upgraded to windows 10 earlier today after i installed it.
Still no luck on getting it to open. I can use the earlier earlier files, not the november 9th one though.

no error message that i can tell when i try to start it. only message i get for installing 4.5 net is that its already on the operating system.
as far as nov 9th version.. nothing happens.. at all.. whatsoevor.

Same or higher version of .NET Framework 4.5 has already been installed on this computer

ok.. thank you for your patience with me.. i know i can be slow... anyways, I chose rightclick and then run as administrator from dropdown list and i get this error.

place it in the same folder of NVil 1.0.exe.
If it doesn't work, remove it.

Why you fired the "NVil 1.0 - Shortcut" instead of "NVil 1.0"?

I had clicked both and gotten the same error.. i am sorry i got the shortcut in particular in the pic, i was trying to capture the error message for you.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. Long work hours.
I tested version 3 and it seems to still hang.. the little curser does a spin thing, and then i really sort of need to reboot because the directory will not close out.

you might shoot me, please dont kill me too hard. Old woman whose not as computer saavy alert.
I turned off my avast anti virus.. and test 4 now works. its odd but between september and november.. avaste hates it.

i can run version 3 and 4 on the tests...it was having a problem with the anti virus.
any recommendations of something better then avaste?

yes as long as i totally disable avaste antivirus.

Does avaste have settings? I mean you may have set it too strict for NVil to run.

Are you sure you can run Jul 21 update with avaste on?

yes , just tested, I can run the july version with avaste on.
well, retested anyways.

NVil was upgraded to .net 4.5 and slimdx .net 4 version since jul 21 update. Now seems that's not the cause.
Can you follow this thread and test the updates along and see at which update NVil can't run with avaste on?

Actually cut out for me on the first one i opened, wich i believe is september 23rd.

I don't have the code for July and September updates any more. So I can't tell what exactly I have changed between the two versions.
Can you run any of the test, test01-test04 with avaste on? Since you kept changing your pc setting when we did the test on them, so the previous tests are not reliable.

I looked back to your post responding to the first time I requested you to test test04 version. Your answer is

Do you have any clue why test04 version didn't run before?
Also when you restested the test versions, did they hang like before or you got a crash message?

I am not the geeky type, but the best i can figure out, is avaste seems to put everything into a sandbox mode.. wich is like an eviroment with an enviroment. and It seemed to be messing with quite a bit.
honestly, I think its avast evilness , and on payday will be getting a new antivirus.
something with the update made avaste say screw you...but as i said.. i noticed this with project dogwaffle, curvy3d and several other proggies.
if i run it standard it will not work...if i choose run outside of sandbox it will it seems.. much more info then that..and i am above my level.

I personally never had any kind of problem with Avast and NVIL and i got it for several years always been my anti-virus
