Title: Custom vertex normals not showing up properly
Post by: rubberDuck on September 27, 2016, 07:44:43 pm
I imported an object with weighted point normals, but NVil treats them as if they were smoothed with a 180 deg. vertex angle.
I'm attaching two test files for comparison. They will open with proper vertex normals in Houdini, Blender and Unity.
If you inspect normals with Subobject Shortcut Tools->Normal tool, you'll notice that both objects have identical normals in NVil, while in reality, their normals should be different.

I tested your two files and it works as expected. I can see the different normals of the two files in viewport.

Ah, I found what was causing this. I had Sharp Edges On On New Objects flag enabled. This was messing up the normals.
Thanks for testing. I think this "bug" report can be ignored now as it's invalid. :)
