Why the Extrude_Cursor_Direction doesn't follow my cursor but instead acts like a patient from the fruitcase department?

Can you send me your config and that scene file?
-
I loaded the scene today to prepare it for sending to you, but the problem didn't occur and the extrusion nicely followed the cursor. Strange.
-
Actually, the problem didn't go away. I'm sending you the files.

You camera focusing point's depth is too far away from the selection's depth.
You can use this tool, Set View Focusing Point. You shortcut is F+Shift+Alt.

I see, thanks. I always used Best Fit because I thought that similarly to Set View Focusing Point it also alters far and near clipping planes.
I constantly get issues when I'm zooming out in orthographic views. Is it really necessary to frequently invoke Set View Focusing Point or Selection Focusing to avoid that?

You have this option on in your config, View > Advance Focus Point On Orthographic View Zooming. That could be the reason.

Its position is used to convert the movement of the cursor in screen to the amount of movement in the viewport world.

The thing is that I get near plane clipping when zooming-in in ortho views if I disable this option.
