Title: Sticky keys are back!
Post by: rubberDuck on January 16, 2016, 12:35:32 pm
So the infamous sticky keys are back in 2016-Jan-07 (64-bit) version. Key combinations which parts of them stay depressed after you release them.
Example: I have CTRL+M mapped to "Batch Rename". When I press it, the appropriate window shows up, but CTRL key gets stuck until I press it again (I need to close the "Batch Rename" window first).

I've seen ALT getting stuck too on some operations, but I didn't pay attention which ones.

It's very difficult to work when specific key combinations get stuck every time I press them.

Do you have anything assigned to Ctrl or M key? And which key did you press first?

I just set Ctrl+M to "Batch Rename" and it works fine here.

"Batch Rename" is assigned to CTRL+M. I first press CTRL, then the M key.

Another example: I have "Hot Windows->Manipulation Window$" bound to CTRL+3 combination, and in this case not only CTRL gets stuck, but also "3".

I'll try with "factory settings" and report back.

Ok, so with "factory settings" the problem doesn't occur. Or at least I wasn't able to reproduce it. It's probably something with my settings, but I'm not sure what.

I have many tools and streamline tools that use CTRL+something combinations, because CTRL modifier is the easiest to access from all modifiers. :) I'm afraid the list would be long.

Try to check tools only with CTRL without CTRl+... And experiment with disabling them.

It might be the "StreamLine Engine Tools->Tweak" tool, that consists of:
Code: [Select]
LMB: Generic Tools >> Tweak_Move
MMB: Generic Tools >> Tweak_Scale
RMB: Generic Tools >> Tweak_Rotate
Redirect: Vertex Shortcut Tools >> Tweak
After I disabled this tool, CTRL no longer seems to get stuck, although I'd have to test it for a little bit longer to be absolutely sure.

I would like to keep Tweak under CTRL though because I use it frequently! It worked well until 2016-Jan-07 version.

samardac, I remember you had a request for streamline line tool to show user window as long as the streamline tool is live. That feature may not work any more in the Nvil-Jan-16-16 version. Can you look back your requests to find out what exactly that feature is so I can find another way to make it work?

IStonia,
If I need to show window during SL tool is Active I'll use:
On Activate - R_Show User Window
On Exit - R_Hide/R_Restore User Window

You mean this?

Cool. The problem appears to be fixed now! I'll report back if I notice the issue again, but hopefully this won't happen. :D
Thank you IStonia for the great support!

Yes, that's the one. This feature should work fine now.

I'm not sure what, but something about Jan-16 version prevents from performing deselection with CTRL+SHIFT.

If I select components with rectangular marquee (LMB/MMB drag) and then attempt to deselect some components with CTRL+SHIFT+LMB/MMB, it only says "Tweak {Ctrl Shift MMB}" and I cannot deselect anything. It would seem that Tweak tool kicks in instead - except that it doesn't.

If, instead of traditional  LMB/MMB drag for selecting multiple components I make use SHIFT+LMB/MMB drag (to add components to existing selection) then as long as I keep the SHIFT key pressed and then hold CTRL - I can deselect single components and even multiple ones by dragging the marquee box.
