Title: Conform Normal Direction
Post by: ghib on May 04, 2015, 12:32:24 pm
Is there a way to 'Conform' the normals of a mesh to one direction on a continuous mesh?

I had to do this on randomly flipped faces created using the retopo tool on a mesh recently.  Bit of a pain if I didn't have Maya.

Geometry > Common Commands n tools > Unify Polygon Facing

Common modeling Shortcut Tools > Unify Polygon Facing

Nice one guys, let me give those a try.  I think it was Unify Polygon Facing I was looking for.

I think maybe the 'Geometry > Common Commands n Tools > Normal' tool needs an update as it doesn't have this function included.

kevjon: I think Align normals to average normals just averages the normals from the current selection, but cheers anyway.

Steves post will come in handy if I import geometry with the same issue.
