Title: Fill hole

Is there a quick way of filling this kind of holes? I tried Fill jagged border edges, but it fails here.

Do a tool search for "Cap Hole" and "Quad Cap".

I know these tools and use them on daily basis, but neither of them is capable of matching the missing topology, meaning I will need to snap new vertices to their, more-or-less, proper positions in order to maintain curvature. Fill jagged border edges does a good job by automatically creating spans for me, but the new surface does not match the original. For instance, on the attached example - it's slightly concave.

I have plenty of this kind of holes to patch up. I can go through them manually, but I was curious if some faster means already exist. "One who asks never loses his way." :)

Not quick, but you can use "Spline surface" for those types of blends.

Select edge loop and create open spline (edge loop on each side of the opening). Change all 4 splines to "Line" (you can use "Toggle type")
Select all 4 splines and call "Streamline basic tool > Generic tools >> Spline_Surface", (while tool still active, use mouse wheel to take edge count down to zero)

Steve, I just tried this tool, but it leaves out some of the vertical spans.

Hi rubberDuck,

Did you make sure while surface tool enabled, that you used mouse_wheel to set both counts to zero?

Here simple check.

1. sample object.
2. 4 spline created from the 4 edge loops
3. Surface applied
4. Sample object with new surface welded.

Yes, I did.
I don't know what I am doing wrong here. Perhaps you could take a look at this test scene?

Test scene OK and surface being created correctly.

Checked in Nvil build April-04-15 and Build May-04-15

Hm. Same thing in 2015-Apr-30. Must be some setting then.

You have the "Shift key" pressed.

When surface tool active, using mouse wheel will change both count value. But if you have "Shift" or "Ctrl" key pressed only one value will change.

Change your hotkey so it does not have "Shift" or "Ctrl"

Another option is Bridge streamline tool (multi), will connect one side, then use the cut tool to create the other loops, and snap weld the holes.

I mention this method because these tools are used far more often, and usually get a hotkey preferance and therefore faster to do.

Spline tools would be more accurate, but probably slower, if accuracy or topology was not critical
