Title: Inset tool - numeric operation
Post by: jcue on February 13, 2013, 02:26:14 am
Hello,

I'm currently using the inset tool and I noted that you cannot manually enter a number between -1 and 1. for example I want a specific size inset of .02 but it will not work. The only way it will take a decimal is if it's larger than 1  (ex: 1.1, 2.1).  I eventually got the number to .01 but I had to drag it on the screen until it was the size i wanted.

Thank you

I also noted that you can add loop cuts in while using the inset tool if you scroll the mouse wheel. At first I wasn't sure where the extra loop cuts were coming from so I was getting a bit frustrated. I eventually discovered it was the mouse wheel controlling the amount. It would help if there was a numeric input for the amount of loop cut in the inset tool.

Hi jcue,

There is a bug with input, you need to enter the "0" before decimal point. So do not enter .02 you need to enter 0.02
I should of reported the problem, but forgot, as I got into the habit of entering the "0" first.

You are welcome.

I say it is a bug, but it may be intentional, as other inputs appear to be the same.

I noticed that aswell, that you need to put the 0 before the decimal...Hopefully that will be fixed, because most other programs will get your meaning if you type .2 or .02 ...I makes this feel like an unnecessarily strict

I would support that! I often type in .0something, soon to find out, that it doesn't work in NVil, but I can't get out of the habit, especially when switching between apps, that support it.

Fixed.

You can hit a number key instead of using WMB.
