I work at a levelterrain mesh at the moment. It has for now a few big ngons. In trueSpace this terrain doesn`t show any odd triangulation. Even when i reload a by Nvil saved mesh. In Nvil it does.
The vertices of the underlying geometry are connected in a wrong way, ignoring vertices that are part of the face. In trueSpace sometimes this happens too. In such a case it sometimes helps to use the optimize tool. Sometimes i don`t have a choice but to delete the trouble faces and to readd the face.
What is the proper way to fix this in Nvil?
-
That problem is from the underlying geometry produced by Nvil for rendering, so only IStonia can change that behavior.
To fix that manually, you would need to divide the n-gon. I thought that was the reason for your request for the "Quadrify n-gons"(Divide n-gons) tool?
-
Not only. That`s more a finishing bit :)
I need the Ngons for the workflow. A single Ngon is easier to select than a few dozen quads :)

Not only. That`s more a finishing bit :)
Which doesn`t work with this odd sub triangulation as i have found out now. Most trouble faces gets fixed with the Divide Ngon tool. I also tried to optimize before. But there`s enoug odd sub triangulation left to give a wrong result.
I have no problem to load this mesh in trueSpace though. All fine. No odd sub triangulation. Seems that the mesh handling of Nvil isn`t really happy with the Ngons.

Try 'Rewind'. Sometimes it may get better. My format doesn't handle concave ngons well. So you may need to devided it into a couple or more ngons.
-
So that`s a limit at the moment. Thanks. Rewind tool just helps partially. And not with all my Ngons. Seems that i would have to fix those by hand then.
I´ve found the Rewind tool in the customize toolshelf, and have given it a hotkey. But where is the Rewind tool located in the menu?

But where is the Rewind tool located in the menu?
By default, it is in the [sub-object Polygon] "Visual tools" and "Radial menu-> Commands" and the "Geometry" top drop down menu.

Have it. Thanks steve :)

Tiles, the improved 'Optimize' tool should help now. Please let me know how it works.
-
Thanks iStonia. The result is now much better at the front side. No trouble triangles anymore But there`s still some problem triangulatin left at the backside. As shown in the shot.
-
Where is the shot?
-
Huh? Good question. Umm, here :D

Here`s a small testfile attached.

I downloaded your terrain mesh. Loaded it. Select all polygons then Optimize them. The result looks good to me. Can't see any problem.
In your StillProblems.jpg, I suspect it is two overlapping polygons.
-
Yes.
Hm, my example shows trouble faces too. Odd that it doesn`t show to you. Are you sure that you cannot see this big face here, going through the rest of the geometry, and connected where it shouldn`t connect?
-
It should be fine now.
