I was attempting to export instances via FBX, but having issue. So to check:-

I created sphere + spline
Made Instance>> Spline, which created the default 12 instances along spline. Saved as FBX.
Loaded FBX back into Nvil
All object imported, but only 4 objects where still instances.

Please check when you have time.

Just in case you did not read my post correctly, or I was not clear enough. The test made was to export an FBX file from Nvil, then load that file back into nvil.

Do you really need need me to send you an FBX file exported from Nvil?

So now checking with new default config:-

pic01:- Simple 4x4 instance array of box.
pic02:- Backface color set to red. When rotate view, shows polygons on instancies created to view, so inconsistant polygon normal directions.
Pic03:- With nothing selected in scene, on "Save scene as" > FBX, error popup.

I have not tested further yet with new default config, because if FBX export/import issue due to my own config, it will mean yet another conflict or corrupted config. (creating a new config/ui for each build of Nvil is not something I will do).

I don't think it is something related to your cofig. Instance is on mesh level in fbx format while it is on object level in Nvil. When importing, some position and angle data must be checked against a threshold value to see if an instance can be established. If you have a sample problem file, it would be helpful to set the threshold value.

I don't think it is something related to your cofig.

It looks to be an issue with my scene settings.
I am working with:-

Set Preference >> General >> Unit setup to "100 as one meter".
Scene scale to "100"

Changing back to defaults (units generic, scene scale 1) and working OK. So you probably need to change FBX threshold value with scene scale/units.

I don't know. I need the fbx file to check.

So you are unable to change your scene scale/units to check.

I have attached FBX example.

Try this

I have increased one threshold value.
