Title: Shading, where is Autofaceted and Smooth?

When i load a Obj file then i end in a faceted mesh display. I want to change this into smooth shading. Where do i?

Hi Tiles,

By default, the model/mesh should be seen as its hard_edges and shader_domains are set.

There is a toggle for "Sharp edges"(faceted)/smooth which you could check first:-

Failing that, check the model for hard_edges(sub_object edges-> select hard_edges (or enable the show hard_edges "view-> object shading-> Show hard_edge color". (tools to set hard/soft edges are in "Tools->Edge shortcut tools-> "Harden/Soften Selected" "Soften/Harden Selected")
If still no help, in sub_object polygon, select all polygons on model, and check the current "shading group" settings for the mesh, there should be at least one set for the mesh to be fully seen as smooth, but if multiple smoothing groups, they may need clearing/correctly setting.

There is also this option could be usefull to you, View > Object Shading > Hard Edge Styles >...

Thanks :)

Again i was trapped by the babylonian name thingie. I never thougth that "hard edges" could have somehting to do with shading :)
