Hello everybody, long time no see. I am back to learning nvil again. After doing so much web dev now I want to take a break and do some 3d modeling.
Here is a question. How do you use the optimize tool to merge an array of planes?
I tried doing the following but nothing happens. Maybe I am doing it wrong.
First I create a 3x3 plane object.
Then I create an array of 5 instance on X axis.
Afterwards, select all 5 plane objects and Combine (Merge Meshes).
Now I go into polygon mode, select all faces, and run the optimize tool in Geometry -> Optimize
I was expecting to see the 5 planes welded but nothing happened.
I am using version 2017-Mar-24
Ok, it feels great to be back into 3d modeling, and thanks for the help in advance.

You can use the P_Weld tool.

I am watching some nvil tutorials from Samardac. He used the optimize tool, but I am not getting the same result. Here is the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETBoVG5XR8g
Jump to 2:40 to see his process.

The tool he used is a customized composite tool which includs P_Weld tool, it is not the same tool you used.

I see. So what is the purpose of the Optimize tool? I thought that it was to clean up overlapping polygons and vertices.
By the way, thanks for the help IStonia.

Do this
1. Go to polygon mode.
2. Press and hold "End" key. Don't loose it.
3. Open and click this menu item, Geometry > Optimize.
The "Customize Tools" window will open with the "Optimize" tool selected. On top of the window you should see the description of this tool.
