Title: Grid snapping with adding an edgeloop
Post by: Tiles on September 24, 2012, 08:30:33 am
In trueSpace i have some neat functionality with the point edit snapping tool. I can by move snap vertices to other vertices, vertices to edges, vertices to faces, i can extend a edge along its normal, and so on. This functionality already exists in Nvil.

But i can display something like a snapping grid at edges too. So that i can snap an edgeloop in a predefined distance. How do i in Nvil?

When I originally looked at the "Loop insert-> Proportional" I thought that made a snapping to a divided edge(similar as you show), but it only makes a proportional distance from the side loops.

I have only just noticed that although math functions have been added to the various manipulations, they have not been added to the "Loop insert-> Proportional-> use input position"

You should use 'Loop Insert > Fixed Length > Use Input Length', if you know the exact distance.

Thanks for the idea.

But i donĀ“t know the exact distance. What i have is an edge, and i want to divide this edge with as many dot divisions as i may think that can be useful. And use this dots then for snapping. Be it for adding an edgeloop, be it another vertice, edge or face.
