Title: randomize vertices
Post by: samardac on April 03, 2015, 03:28:08 am
Randomize vertices, it will be good to have this feature.
I Tried to find it but looks like NVil have no such a tool.

For example I made this foam but it looks very ideal and need some vertex randomization:

This tool have to randomize position and control the amount of randomization.
I think it will be useful tool.

Have a look at "Vertex shortcut tools >> Height"

Thanx, just checked, it works but not exactly what I asked for. It changes position only in one direction.
Generally that tool that I asked for has these parametetrs:
1. Randomize (contol the amount of randomization)
2. X,Y,Z constraints (to lock randomization to selected axis)

Hi IStonia,

Is "Vertex Tools >> Height >> Spherical" actually working?
Due to this thread I was having a look, but cannot get any result when using that tool with "Spherical" option.

IStonia, many thanks!

Istonia, tool works great, but need to be a bit modified, now we have 7 commands no way to make shortcurs for them or a good window. Also move increment is in another window for example in my UI I do not use that window, so I suggest to make small window for this command like this:

And after you pres generate window will not close so you can press generate many times.

And in this situation we will have only one command - Random Move Vertex.

Also will be great to make Undo works during window is open

Also it will be good to add checkbox - preserver open edges from randomization.

Works great thank you!
Could you pleas make this window not appears when you press Undo. Now it shows everytime I perform undo and stop it so I have to close it by hands and continue undo.

I use now this tool very useful and I have one suggestion.
It will be better to remove Generate button and make it update when you move amount slider. It will solve a lot of problem, now if you made something wrong you have to make undo and start again, but undo does not work when tool is on, so it is long story. Having it update when you move slider will be very nice solution.
Also if it is possible to make it updates automatically when you check/uncheck X,Y,Z.

Works nice!
Can you enable Undo when this window is opened. To make it possible to undo randomization while generate it?
Also when Amount is 0 you can not move vertexes and arrows(increase/decrease) near amount box does not work.
Also looks like it moves not linear it starts slow then as long as you move it starts to move faster.

OR!
Instead to make undo, it will be better to make it work in one step, like this plugin works in MoI:
https://monosnap.com/file/qIPdSR5Toid6YfnnS3czgWFc7Iu5UR

See it makes only one session during command is ON. And apply changes after you satisfy with result, by pressing done.

Now our Randomizer made a lot of steps, you can move cursor than again and again, but you can not back to 0.
The same thing with Checkboxes.

I do not know how that commands name when you make changes and apply them after you are satisfied with result. Like Open Box Tool works now. You set all like you need and then apply.

Do you mean you can not do any undo at all while this window is open.

I can undo it while I am lmb dragging by rmb click.
I can do Edit >> Undo. Or though hotkey.

I used undo from streamline tools, now I move them to tools and it works.
Fix pleas amount now when it 0 command does not work. I mean I can not move vertices and arrows near amount.

-You can drag out amount from 0 if there is selection in the scene.
-Scaling is improved.

Hay IStonia,
I still can not move vertexes if amount is 0, but arrows near box work now.
I mean If amount is 0 and I drag Mouse nothing changing vertexes not move.
I notice that this ammount control first step when you start to draging and looks like if it is 0 it will not make first step.
So may be remove that Amount box and make this tool work only by draging with constant speed from zero? It will be more intuitive.

If you set the amount to close to the one you need, you can save a lot of dragging.
If set "View > Display > Transform Value Display Options > Enabled". You can see the actual amount used.
