Hi!
This is not something pressing and probably for the future anyways as I don't know if this would even work with the current distribution of the software, BUT I would welcome a feature that informs me about a new release of NVIL. An option for "automatically check for updates" would be nice of course. I would put such "check for update" command in the help menu. If there's no newer version, a message box will tell me so, and if there is a new version, provide me with a URL to the website.
At least there should be a link to the main website in the about box. :)
I know this feature has a long tail, as you'd need version numbering, and a more elaborated website in the future.

Personally, I am dubious about having a "Check for updates", as I have seen various applications have long start up delays when they have not been able to open a socket/make Internet access.

I didn't make such experiences or I just didn't noticed them, but an option for automatically checking for updates implies that you could turn it off. :)
