Hello,

I wonder, how "good" or compare-able  the Nvil Boolean operations are to what is called "Mesh fusion" in Modo?

Would be nice to read about your experiences with Nvil / Void World

Cheers!

Hi Onkelpoe,

Quick answer:-
Nvil booleans do not come close to "Mesh Fusion"

Longer answer:-

"Mesh Fusion" is a quite advanced, with many years of development(from the creator of Groboto). At it current price(and it is a plugin, not an application), you could purchase 5 license for Nvil.
Booleans are very complex, so an implementation can be very problematic. A lot of other vendors have now stopped development of boolean functions and instead started using a 3rd party boolean library (Carve-csg), Blender now uses that library, but only really made good implementation after the addition of B-mesh.

Have you seen "Hard_Mesh", a plugin currently being developed. That looks interesting, but you will need "Maya" to use it. http://www.hard-mesh.com/

Hey Steve,

yes, I have thought that ;)
To see an implementation of this Lib in NVil would be awesome!

I got Maya...8, it´s on one of my old PPC mac´s... But thanks for the hint.

Cheers!

Damm, I´ve tested Boolean ops in Modo+Mesh Fusion... omg it´s awesome, hehehehe.
But I understand, that will be something out of reach for us - must be extremly complicated
to program this, can imagine now!

(No offence to the author of NVil of course!)

Best Regards
